Privacy policy

AngryLips is run by Cronk Companies, LLC (“we”). This page says exactly what we collect, which is not much, and what we do with it, which is less.

Playing without an account

You can play everything without telling us who you are. While you do, we handle:

• The words you type, only if you share a story, save its image, or play in a party room — they're stored so the link works. Anyone with the link can see them. Shared pages are not indexed by search engines.
• A random player ID kept in your browser's local storage so a party room knows which phone is yours. It isn't tied to your identity.
• A signed cookie counting your free AI stories, and a hashed IP address used for daily rate limits on the AI features. The hash can't be reversed into an address and is deleted with the day's counter.
• Anonymous analytics (Vercel Web Analytics): page views and aggregate performance, no cookies, no cross-site tracking.
• Session analytics (Microsoft Clarity): anonymized clicks, scrolling and page structure, so we can see which parts of the site are confusing. Anything typed by a player — blanks, names, story ideas, the finished story — is masked in your browser and never reaches Clarity, both while you type it and everywhere we print it back out: the reveal, the share page, the TV screen and the recap. The one exception is the link preview: when you share a story, its text is in the page's own description so the chat app can show it, which is the point of sharing it.

With an account

Accounts are optional and exist for two reasons: Pro, and keeping your shared stories in one place. To sign in we send a one-time code to your email; there is no password. We store your email address, a hashed version of it as your ID, your plan, and the list of stories you shared while signed in. Sessions are a signed cookie that lasts 30 days.

Accounts are for people 13 and older. Kids can play the free game; they don't need an account and shouldn't make one.

Payments

Pro is billed by Stripe. We never see your card number. We keep Stripe's customer and subscription IDs so we know your plan is active.

AI features

Custom stories and narrations are generated with Azure OpenAI in our own Microsoft Azure subscription. Your prompt (what the story is about, any names you type) and the finished story are sent to that service and stored by us so the story can be played and shared. Microsoft does not use this data to train models. Please don't put anything private about other people into a prompt; it's a party game.

Where things live

Everything is stored in Microsoft Azure (United States) and served by Vercel. Sign-in emails are sent through Azure Communication Services. We use no advertising networks and sell nothing to anyone.

Your choices

• Clear your browser's cookies and local storage to forget the anonymous IDs.
• Sign out from your account page to end a session.
• Email angrylips@cronkcompanies.com from your account address to delete your account and everything tied to it, or to take down a shared story. We do it within 30 days, usually within a day.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date above changes and we'll say what moved.
